Winter Storm Update 2-13-14
Englewood has received about ten inches of snow since early this morning. Our DPW crews have been working since 1 AM trying to keep-up with the snow on our main roads. We are now in the predicted “lull” of the storm which is expected to last until about 9 PM tonight. During this period, we expect sleet and freezing rain to fall on the snow that we have already received. This combination will make driving conditions very hazardous and everyone is urged to stay off of the roads for the rest of the day and night.
After 9 PM tonight, we expect snow to resume and continue until about 4 AM. It is expected that another four to six inches of snow will be added overnight, so the morning drive on Friday will be very challenging.
DPW will be working overnight and will be plowing on Friday until all City streets are safe and passable.
In order to facilitate the plowing, garbage collection was suspended for both today and tomorrow. Please do not place your cans at the curb. Please use your driveway so the plows can widen out the streets when they plow. Parked cars make it difficult, and in some cases impossible, to plow.
Free parking is available until 8 PM on Friday in the downtown garage and in the parking lot at the Liberty School.
City offices will be closing today at 2:30 PM and will reopen on Friday at 10 AM. Please remember to clear your sidewalks and please do not throw snow into the streets.
