When most people think about hunger, they think of a starving child in a third-world country. Or possibly they think of a line of homeless people waiting outside of a soup kitchen. The truth is that hunger in United States is a huge crisis. In a country known for its wealth and prosperity, millions struggle to find their next meal.
In order to make a difference in the City of Englewood, I am partnering with the Center for Food Action to host a food drive through the month of August. We are asking that you donate canned tuna fish (in water) and peanut butter, which were specifically requested by the Center for Food Action.
We have set up a yellow drop off bin in City Hall (located at 2-10 North Van Brunt Street), where donations can be placed. Please bring your donations during municipal building hours (Monday through Friday 9am-5pm). The last day to make your donations will be Friday, August 31, 2012 at 5pm. I look forward to your participation and cooperation. Thank you.
