Dear Residents,

I have just received an update from PSE&G on the electric power situation in Englewood. As of 4:30 pm, both the New Milford and the Englewood substations are back in full operation. Power has been restored to almost all PSE&G customers in Englewood. They now list on their website that less than 500 customers are without power. They have asked me to encourage residents to help reduce the demand on the electric grid by reducing power use, if possible, for the next few days. Please turn off lights when you leave a room and increase the temperature on your air conditioner to save energy and help avoid rolling blackouts for the Labor Day weekend.

If you do not have power restored by Friday morning, please call the City Manager’s office so that he can ensure that PSE&G has your address on their worksheet. His phone number is 201-871-6637. It is PSE&G’s goal to have all electric service restored in Englewood by Friday at noon.

As I receive updates, I will post the new information on the City’s website and here.

Regards,

Mayor Frank Huttle III

Dear Englewood Resident,

After having almost power restored to almost all residents, PSE&G had an emergency at the Englewood substation that has knocked out power to between 2,001 and 5,000 PSE&G customers in the City. An animal got into the substation which started a fire causing the substation to go off line. The next substation in New Milford picked-up all of the Englewood customers until the electric draw on it became too high, which shut it down. This has resulted in many Englewood residents losing power. In addition, due to heavy demand, PSE&G has done some rolling blackouts, none of which were targeted to Englewood.

I just spoke to the city’s representative at PSE&G who advised that they are completing repairs on the Englewood and New Milford substations. They are in the process of restoring power to Englewood and hope to have all power restored by the early evening today.

If I get more information, I will pass it along to you.

Regards,

Mayor Frank Huttle III
