Englewood Residents:

Englewood is now cleaning-up after Hurricane Irene. Most of the flooding has receded and the Department of Public Works is clearing fallen trees from the city’s roads.

PSE&G is still reporting that many residents are still without power. Between Englewood, Tenafly, Bergenfield and Teaneck, PSE&G reported to me that as of midnight, 54,674 customers had no power. By noon today, power was restored to many of those customers, leaving 16,371  without power. PSE&G crews are working in Englewood. They have to stabilize poles, cut trees from wires, replace wires, replace transformers, and in some instances, replace poles, before all power is restored. Their customer service number is 1-800-436-7734. Please use caution and stay away from all downed power lines.

The Department of Public Works will be collecting brush, tree limbs and items that may have been ruined by flood waters. Place these items neatly at the curb and they will be picked-up beginning on Tuesday. They may also be put out with your trash on your regular trash collection days.

The police department is patrolling areas of Englewood that are without power. If you have any particular police needs, call the police headquarters at 201-568-2711.

I will keep you updated with new information as soon as I receive it.

Thank you for your cooperation during this period of recovery.

Sincerely,

Mayor Frank Huttle III
