Dear Residents,

As you are all aware, the 2011 budget process is underway. Over the past few weeks, the City Council has held Budget Hearings with eight of our City’s Departments. This week, there is currently one Budget Workshop Meeting scheduled that I strongly encourage you to attend:

  • On Wednesday, February 23rd, there will be a City Council Budget Workshop Meeting at 7:00pm held at City Hall in the Second Floor Conference Room, 2-10 N. Van Brunt Street. On the agenda for the evening is:
    • Administration
    • Finance
    • Non-Departmental
    • Landfill/Utilities
    • Insurance/Statutory Expenditures
    • Supplemental
    • Capital

During these fiscally challenging times, it is extremely important that you attend these meetings. Please come out, listen, and let your voice be heard. Your participation and input is advantageous to the whole budget process.

I am happy to report that resident attendance at our Budget Hearings has been steadily increasing. I am also happy to report that our residents have been posing insightful questions and suggestions to the City’s Department Heads and Council.

To briefly recap, the following Budget Hearings have already occured:

  • 2/1: Fire Department, 2/8 Police Department, 2/9 Department of Public Works, 2/9 Building and Code Enforcement, 2/15 Library, 2/15 Parks and Recreation, 2/16 Court, and 2/16 Health Department.

When additional Budget Hearings are scheduled, I will be sure to inform you. I welcome you to join us in this process. The City cannot move forward without you!

Regards,

Mayor Frank Huttle III
