In commemoration of the of the 9th anniversary of the terrorists attacks of September 11, 2001, Mayor Frank Huttle today announced that a memorial service will be held on the front lawn of the Englewood Public Library, 31 Engle Street, Englewood NJ at 8:30am.

The program will honor the memories of the five Englewood residents who lost their lives in the September 11th attacks on the world Trade Center as well as the emergency service personnel who responded to ground zero. City Council Members, key Fire, Police and Ambulance Corps members, local clergy, Englewood residents and members of the victim’s families have been invited to join Mayor Huttle at this memorial event.

“As we mark nine years since the tragic events that took place when our country was attacked, it is important to mark the day with a ceremony and solemn observances of the those terrible events” , the Mayor remarked.

The ceremony will once again take place at the Englewood Library, where a tree was planted and plaque placed in honor of the residents who lost their lives in the attack. Should weather conditions not permit an outdoor ceremony, the event will be held at bergenPAC at 30 North Van Brunt Street.

“It is hard to believe that nine years have gone by since that fateful day”, the Mayor said. “We must mark this solemn day as we remember the victims and those that they left behind.”

“The September 11th attacks were the worst attack on US soil and many of the first responders who arrived on the scene came from Northern New Jersey and Bergen County. We, as a community, are part of the fabric that is the New York Metropolitan area and so many people who live in and near this community have been affected by the September 11th terrorist attacks,” Mayor Huttle said. “Our observance should give us pause and allow us to recognize how these events have shaped us as a city and as a nation.”
